The Calgary Flames are the National Hockey League franchise for Calgary. They play out of the Pengrowth Saddledome. The abbreviation CGY says something about society. Why don't they just use CAL?
In the 2003-2004 season (jobs), the Flames made the playoffs for the first time in eight years. They took this run to Stanley Cup finals losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh game. The playoff run helped create the Red Mile on 17th Ave as the multitude of fans in red jerseys exited the 'dome.
Unfortunately, there was no 2004-2005 (no jobs) season, due to player strikes. If it makes them feel any better, I was unemployed during that time. I was also a virgin during that time.
The 2005-2006 (no jobs) season showed great promise for the Flames as they dominated their division, however, to the great dissapointment of Calgarians everywhere, they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in seven games.
All games are broadcast on The Fan 960 radio station.
