Paradise Lanes

Calgary Community wiki

Paradise Lanes is a bowling center in southeast Calgary, located in the 3500 block of 17th Avenue SE. It is located on the south side of 17th Avenue in the basement of a strip mall.

Paradise was the first five-pin center in Calgary to offer automatic scoring. It features a ProScore automatic scoring system. This system can automatically track and eliminate bowlers participating in the centre's "strike it rich" contest during league play. This system also allows Paradise Lanes to offer a computerized bingo bowling game.

The establishment is licensed and offers a limited amount of snacks and sub sandwiches.

The facility is no stranger to hosting major events. It has hosted the Youth Bowling Council National Championships on multiple occasions. It has also hosted the Golden Age National championships.

Paradise is known for its high scoring pace, having reported numerous perfect games through its history.

The bowling centre is under new ownership as of February 2008. During the summer of 2008, the facility underwent a lane resurfacing, deployed a new fleet of house balls, renovated its bar area, and expanded its food offerings to include nachos. The facility also switched to Pepsi for soft drinks.

It retains a large and loyal base of league bowlers.
